An indigenous species of karkaana, the Rhrravi are a generally nomadic people who typically exist in small settlements dotted around the world. If they ever had a homeland in the past, that is certainly no longer the case.
Generally speaking, Rhrravi are not the most welcome sight in many parts of the world and despite their enduring cultural significance tend to be looked down upon and discriminated against by many. Regularly cited as primitive, aggressive, untrustworthy, thieving or even considered vermin, their name is often synonymous with such traits.
The Rhrravi are however far from a united group, with vast differences between various tribes, often wildly different even among neighboring groups. Tribe means life to most Rhrravi, and their society was regularly structured in a way that emphasized this aspect of family life and unity. What this also meant is that excised or in other ways unwelcome individuals often had to find their way outide of their societies.
What is considered a collective term for the many humanoid species on karkaana, the Lae are not quite as populous as the Rankan, but are certainly more spread out.
Generally varied in looks, they tend to appear as a type of bipedal furless hominid of varying sizes and slightly feline features.
There are numerous defining traits and variations between the different subspecies of Lae, and they tend to be region dependent, however many mixed heritage Lae exist.
A solitary and elusive people, Voan are quite possibly not native to karkaana, but in fact of celestial origin. However, as not much is known of them and their solitary nature doesn’t leave much traces behind them, it is hard to know for sure.
What is certain is that Voan are powerful creatures with shapeshifting and other abilities, a fact that often makes them considered gods, demons and more. Despite this, their capacities are generally vastly overblown by regular people as only the most ancient of Voan have truly exceptional abilities.
Some of these ancient Voan have been considered manifestations of the celestial deities that are known to karkaana, however such powerful entities are few and far inbetween even among voankind.
In either case, not many Voan are known to exist and they are oft elusive, using their shapeshifting abilities to avoid detection.

It so happens that some Voan have a propensity for spending time around other races. This, at times, produces offspring with some degree of unique features of their voan parent. Hanoan are the product of such unions and are regularly revered, hated or both by other peoples, often considered exotic and alien. This fact is largely the unique challenge of their lives and many attempt to mask it to avoid persecution.
The modern Rankan are the direct descendants of one of the most ancient indigenous cultures of karkaana, the proto felid nem-ra-nem. They are known for their impressive industrial accomplishments and ancient warring empires that have left lasting scars on both the planet and her people. Nowadays, the Rankan people are formed into a loose alliance of nations with a relatively democratic rule, with a few notable outliers.
One of those outliers are the Heloi, descendants of what was once Soleos Legii who have split from the rest of the nem-ra-nem people millenia ago. The Heloi are sometimes derogatorily referred to as rankanborn or kan in reference to their shared origins.
A great deal of nem-ra-nem history has been long lost, with only some of the ancient architecture and technology being left in the wake of many wars. It’s not uncommon to find this infrastructure a base upon which some modern cities have been built.
Regardless of their tumultuous history, the Rankan remain a proud and diverse group of people with a rich culture and art, strong interest in scientific discovery and industrial progress that has given birth to many technological marvels of the modern era.
